Weigh In Sunday #2 July 29, 2012

This is what I did for the week to help (or hurt) my next weigh in.  At the end of this post will be my weigh in for this week.  I certainly hope it is down!

Sunday, July 22 - The day started out with my first weigh in.  You can check that out here.  It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be to post that for the world to see.  It is what it is and I plan on changing it!  To celebrate my first weigh in we went to El Chico to eat!  I know, I know.....not a good way to start, but I had a coupon for B1G1 Free and you know how I am about my coupons!  Plus they have this wonderful Burrito Bowl that I always get.  It has rice, black beans, chicken, corn, onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, cilantro, cheese and sour cream drizzle.  It's not loaded with sour cream.  It's only a little drizzle over it.  It's also the only thing I ate for the day.  I know that's not good for me either, but that's what this is all about.  Changes!!

Monday, July 23 - Woke up with a migraine.  Not a good way to start the day.  Didn't go to the gym and again only ate once.  I wasn't hungry and I knew that I was going to stop and get mom a pizza from Pizza Hut, so I saved my calories for that!

Tuesday, July 24 - I went to a class at the gym.  A Lot to Lose.  Man, what a workout.  When I left the gym it looked like I had jumped in the pool I was so hot and sweaty!  Not a pleasant drive from Frankfort to Lexington in hot and sweaty gym clothes!!!

Wednesday, July 25 - Went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the treadmill and the weight training room. 

Thursday, July 26- Was pretty sore from Tuesday and Wednesday, so I took a break from the gym.

Friday, July 27 - Went to the gym and just did the weight training circuit room. 

So, are you ready for the big reveal????  Here it is!!!!  That's a 4.5 pound weight loss!!!!  WooHoo!!!  I'm pretty excited!!!  I know it won't be this much every week, but it's definitely a great start! 



I am ready for week 2!  Bring it on!!!

Weigh In Sunday #1 - July 22, 2012

My niece, Kara, over at HowIChow has started Weigh-In Wednesdays as a means to hold herself accountable for the goals that she is making.  I have decided to join her.

As she said, there's nothing like sharing your weight with the world to make you kick it into overdrive to make real, lasting changes!

For me, it's not just a number on the scale.  I have been obsessed with my weight all my adult life.  As a teenager, I never really had a weight problem.  I didn't have to worry about what I ate.  I could basically eat anything, anytime and I stayed pretty much the same weight. 

Once I had children all that changed.  I had to start that endless diet and exercise cycle.  Finally in the late 1990's I started getting up early in the morning and running and the weight just started falling off!  I kept it off for several years too, but then in March 2001 I had a hysterectomy.  In April 2001 I had a stroke and in June 2001 the company I was working for went bankrupt and I lost my job.  A lot of major things to happen in a short period of time.  With the combination of the hysterectomy and stroke I was put on a lot of medication.  Slowly the weight started coming back on.

When I was finally given the go ahead I started running again, but this time the weight wasn't falling off.  I tried diet after diet.  Nothing seemed to work like before.  Then I just gave up and the weight just kept creeping on. 

I am going to post a picture of my weight.  The last time I weighed this much I had a 10 pound baby in my belly!!!  I don't have that excuse now.  Here it is:


 
I have joined the gym with a co-worker and we are going three days a week using our lunch break and exercise time combined.  Where I work we have been given 2 1/2 hours of exercise time to use each week.  You can break it down and use it the way you want too.  We have decided to use it 50 minutes a day for three days.  I'm also going to try to go twice a week after work and do Zumba. 

I am going to give myself small goals to accomplish each week.  I'm starting out small so I won't feel overwhelmed and give up! 

My first goal is to bring my lunch every day to work and actually eat it.  I will allow myself to go out once a week only.

A Game of Tag

Michael over at My Glass House has tagged me in a game of Blog Tag.  I've been it for a few days, but you all know how horrible I am at keeping my blog updated!  Thank you, Michael for this honor!

 I'm required to post the rules, which are to answer the questions sent to me by Michael, come up with new questions (or keep using the old ones), and as is always the case with these things, tag more bloggers.

1.  Who is my favorite author?  My favorite published author is John Grisham.  I love everything that he writes.  My favorite soon to be published author is Michael Rupured.  I know one day soon I will go in my local bookstore and his books will be on the shelf!!

2.  If I could live in another time period, what period would that be?  Hmmmmm.....There are so many choices, but I guess I would love to go back to the beginning of time...

3.  I've been published and just landed a movie deal.  Which actors would I cast in the two main roles?  Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, because I love their chemistry in Pretty Woman.

4.  What is my most treasure possession (not people or animals)?  My grandmother's birthstone ring.

5.  If I could live anywhere in the world and money were no object, where would I live?  I'm going to steal Michael's answer on this one...I'd have my own private jet to move between several different homes.  I'd have a cabin in the mountains, a cottage by the ocean, and condos in several major cities.

6.  Who is my Idol/Hero?  My mom....

7.  When I was a kid, what did I want to be when I grew up?  Did I achieve it?  I wanted to be a lawyer and no I didn't achieve it.

8.  What's my perfect day?  Spending time with my family and friends with yummy food, good drinks, beautiful weather and some wonderful laughter and a nap thrown in!

9.  I get a HUGE advance for my first novel - $250,000.  What's the first thing I'd do with the money?  I would buy some land so that we could start building our compound.  Only the people that join us for Third Wednesday will understand this!  I'll explain it in another post one day soon!

10.  How many times a day do you check your e-mail?  I get notifications of any email messages (work or personal) on my cellphone.  So all the time unless I'm sleeping or in Church or someplace where I can't check them.

11.  What was my nickname in school and how did I get it?  Didn't have one that I recall....

Full-Time Job

If you just clip coupons and use them once in a while to save money then you know that doesn't take up much of your time.  If you clip coupons, check all the sale ads, check all the blogs, take surveys, check in to apps on your phone to make money, etc. then it almost becomes a full-time job!  I am sure the majority of the coupon blogs that I read either have staff working for them and/or they are stay at home moms.  There is no way one person with a job or even a stay at home mom with little ones can post all the things they post.  They know everything that is going on everywhere!!

If you are new to the world of coupons then there is so much that you will need to learn.  It seems a bit overwhelming at first, but the more you coupon and read about it the easier it will get.

The first thing you need to do is organize your coupons.  I find it easier to cut out each coupon and to use a binder and have a separate page for each aisle or section of the grocery store.  Organizing your coupons in a binder by category requires about an hour to an hour and a half each Sunday.  This makes preparing to shop easier because all of your coupons are clipped and organized.  Use baseball card holders to hold the clipped coupons.

Now where do you find coupons?  The Sunday Newspaper is the best place.  Ask friends and family members.  Magazines.  Stores.  Internet.  You can also load coupons directly to your store's loyalty card and make sure you sign up for those loyalty cards.  There are tons of them.  I have a separate key chain just for those cards.  I have a total of 14.  I have Kroger, CVS, Rite Aid, Hallmark, JC Penney, Best Buy, Canes, Godiva, Dick's Sporting Good,  Panera, K-Mart (Sears and Land's End are on the same one with K-Mart), Speedway, Library Card and Gym Card are also on there.  If you have one that I don't please let me know!

I'm also a member of the National Consumer Panel.  Once you become a member they send you a scanner. You scan all of your purchases that you make and you receive points.  With those points you can purchase things from their website.  It is a little time consuming.  Some stores that you buy from (like Aldi) after you scan the item you have to also enter the price.  You can also take surveys on their website to earn points and every few months they will send you a free gift.  I have received a nice can/bottle opener and a cloth grocery bag.
