Drum Roll Please...

I made it through the 3 day diet!

I didn't cheat and ate what I was supposed to eat.

I weighed myself Monday morning before I started and then weighed myself on Thursday morning.

The results are in.......

I lost 5.5 pounds!  Not bad.  The diet claimed that you could lose UP TO 10 pounds.  I will admit I was a little disappointed when I first saw the results, but after thinking about it, I don't think losing 5.5 pounds in 3 days is anything to be disappointed about!

I have also started walking/running again.  Since I am changing the way I eat, I decided I needed to add in some exercise too.  I have set a goal to walk/run at least 5 miles a day.  I have accomplished that goal since Monday, so I am sure that helped with the weight lose too.

I did not make a wise choice today for lunch, but it could have been worse!  We ordered mexican for lunch......I ate the arroz con pollo, which is a bed of rice with grilled chicken and grilled vegetables and a little cheese on top.  I did eat almost the entire thing, but ate only a few chips and salsa!  Usually I would have eaten a whole basket of chips by myself!  Since I was so bad at lunch, I came home and walked/ran 3 miles and had a protein shake for supper!  So that evens the day out, right???  LOL!!!

So stick around and I will try and update the blog about once a week on the weight loss struggle, um I mean challenge!

Until the next time, thanks for spending......

Diets: Day 3 of 3

I have almost made it through all three days!!  It really wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.  I think I actually had my mind made up that I was going to do this and I was able to avoid temptation!!  The first day some people at work were going to Cracker Barrel and I didn't go!!  The other two days I just stayed away from them, because I didn't want to make that decision again!!

Today has been a little difficult, because if you look at what I get to eat, there's not a lot there!  But I have done it!  Here is a look again at what was on the menu for today:

Day 3
Breakfast
5 saltine crackers
1 oz cheddar cheese
1 small apple

Lunch
1 egg, scrambled, hard-boiled, poached
1 slice toast

Supper
1 cup tuna
1/2 banana
1 cup vanilla ice cream

I'm really looking forward to that 1/2 banana and ice cream!

My daughter and her boyfriend are doing a 7 day clean eating plan.  I might try that next!

Hope you come back tomorrow and find out how much, if any, I have lost!!

Thanks for spending.......

Diets - Day 2 of 3

It is day 2 of my 3 day diet.  I usually weigh myself EVERY morning, but decided not to get on the scale this morning.  I was afraid that if it showed no change from yesterday I would get frustrated and quit.  So we will all have to wait until Thursday to see if I lose any weight.

The food that was allotted for the day wasn't that bad.  Here is the list of what I was able to eat:

Day 2
Breakfast
1 egg, scrambled, hard-boiled, poached (cooked without any fat)
1 slice of toast
1/2 banana

Lunch
1 cup of cottage cheese
1 egg, scrambled, hard-boiled, poached
5 saltine crackers

Supper
2 hot dogs (no bun)
1 cup broccoli
1/2 cup carrot
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream

The ice cream at the end of the day was the best part!  I bought the "best" vanilla ice cream I could find and it was delicious!!!  Now that I am looking back at Day 1 I realize that I forgot to eat the 1/2 banana at supper!  Wonder if I can add that to today's menu???  LOL!

I really didn't get that hungry during the day, except at supper.  Tall Man had to go get charcoal and he did a few other errands.  It took him over 30 minutes and it was almost 6:00pm before he left, so it was after 7:00pm by the time we ate!

One thing that I have done is slow down my eating.  There's not a lot of food there so I try to make it last!

I have almost made it through day 2, so come back tomorrow and see if I make it through Day 3 and thanks for spending..........

Diets: Day 1 of 3

Diet is that awful "D" word that most of us don't like.  I know I don't like it at all, but I have gotten to big for my britches, so now I must diet.

I joined a Biggest Loser group yesterday.  It consists of my daughter, her boyfriend and a few of their friends.  The cost was $75.00 and it is for 3 months.  I had to pick what my goal was for weight loss for the first month.  If I meet that goal then I will get $10.00 back.  Then if I lose 6% of my starting weight in the second month I will get back $10.00.  So there are a few incentives each month to keep it exciting!

Today I started The 3 Day Diet.  It's also referred to as The Military Diet, because of the discipline it takes to stay on the regimen for three full days without cheating or quitting!!  I am pretty sure that I have done this diet at least a dozen times during my adult life, but I am giving it another try.

You can drink as much water as you want during the 3 days because you are not losing water weight.  You cannot drink anything sweetened or flavored. You can have black coffee or tea, but no creamers, no milk, no non-dairy creamers, no honey, no lemon, no artificial sweeteners of any kind!  I like cream in my coffee and splenda in my tea...... Eeeeekkkkk!!!!!!!

The key to this diet working is to be chemically balanced to boost metabolism, so no substitutions and you have to eat everything that is listed.

So here is what I will be eating for the next three days:

Day 1
Breakfast
1/2 grapefruit
1 slice of toast
2 tablespoons of peanut butter
coffee or tea

Lunch
1/2 cup tuna
1 slice of toast
coffee or tea

Supper
3 ounces of any type lean meat
1 cup green beans
1/2 banana
1 small apple
1 cup of vanilla ice cream

 Day 2
Breakfast
1 egg, scambled, hard-boiled, poached (cooked without any fat)
1 slice of toast
1/2 banana

Lunch
1 cup of cottage cheese
1 egg, scrambled, hard-boiled, poached
5 saltine crackers

Supper
2 hot dogs (no bun)
1 cup broccoli
1/2 cup carrots
1/2 banana
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream

Day 3
Breakfast
5 saltine crackers
1 oz cheddar cheese
1 small apple

Lunch
1 egg, scrambled, hard-boiled, poached
1 slice toast

Supper
1 cup tuna
1/2 banana
1 cup vanilla ice cream

So can you guess what I will be looking forward to everyday?  That's right.  The ice cream!!!

I have made it to lunch on the first day and so far so good!

I plan on posting again tomorrow to give you an update.  Hopefully I will have the strength to do so!

Until tomorrow!  Thanks for spending...........
